The process of planning your kitchen design can be very stressful. With so many things to think about and decisions to make, it’s easy to lose your way and end up with something that falls short of your expectations. A new kitchen is a big investment in time and money so it’s only normal to want something that’s perfect. If you’re considering enhancing your home with a new kitchen, here are some tips to help you plan:

The “working triangle”
This is a term used by kitchen designers and it refers to the 3 main purposes of your kitchen; cooking, food preparation and cleaning (These are designer terms and refers to cooking, kitchen, food, preparation and cleaning (i.e. – sink area). Don’t try and make your kitchen too quirky, it needs to be functional and convenient even if you’re not a master chief. When planning your kitchen, you need to think about where you want your commercial laundry equipment and the practicalities of how you will actually use the room.

Styling
Choosing the correct kitchen cabinets is key to getting the look you want. If your home is of an open-plan design, this becomes even more important; you need to ensure that the style you choose is sympathetic to the decor in your main living area. If your kitchen is an entirely separate room, you can afford to be a little more adventurous.

Lighting
Having the right lighting can make your kitchen look a million dollars so think carefully before you buy. If contemporary is your thing then try and funk up your light add recessed spot lights and under counter lights. If you have a kitchen that leans more towards the traditional side then choosing something more ornate might be better.

Colour
Don’t forget about the colour of the walls and floor, this is cannot be a secondary thought and must decided upon right at the beginning to make sure everything fits together.
